16. EmilyTyrieCreations gets going with a bang

For the past year I've been practising my wire-wrapping skills, attending bead fairs, reading glossy magazines for design ideas and generally spending a lot of time and money on my new hobby of jewellery-making. So we decided it was about time I actually started selling some of my jewellery and trying to recuperate some of what we'd spent on all that silver, tools and jewels.

Max inveigled me a stall at the Sony Holiday boutique a couple of weeks ago and, after a few days hurriedly making displays (thanks Max!) and working out prices, I found myself sitting there behind an 8' table full of my jewellery, with people cooing over the sparkly stuff and offering me money! I sold 10 pieces at that show, which I have realised since is actually pretty good going. I also took part in a couple of other shows recently, one with my friend Joanne (pictured) who has just started making jewellery too.

Most recently I've had my jewellery displayed in a bead store in Culver City, Wahine Beads, over the last weekend during their Holiday Party. Hopefully in the new year I can make that a more permanent display making Wahine the first store to carry the ETC range!

Not sure where this is all going to take me, but it's exciting nonetheless.
