9. The adventurers return

Well we made it back in one piece - without being mugged or otherwise interfered with - and we were even thoughtful enough to take a few photos so you can see what we were up to.

If you want to see any photo in a bigger format, just click on it. And send us your comments!

Antigua, Guatemala.

Getting a bit too close, Volcan Pacaya (G).

Now that's a good idea.

I can see it just fine from back here, thanks.

Em and tractor powered big wheel at the fiesta, San Pedro (G).

Lots of fun to be had at the rodeo.

Church and flags, San Pedro (G).

One of our neighbours.

Chillin' out on Lago de Atitlan, (G).

Market stall owners setting up on Saturday night, Chichicastenango (G).

By Sunday morning the entire village was transformed into this bustling market.

Locals doing their thing at Chichicastenango (G).

One of the 100's of uncovered structures at Tikal Ruins (G).

Another view that was well worth the climb.

Well that's what happens when the locals say: "Hold out your hand".

Hey! Get down from there! It's 3000 years old!

Great cabana! A hop, skip and a jump from the sea. Placencia (B).

Watching the sunrise from our deck, Placencia (B).

Em reading on an incredibly bumpy chicken bus ride.

No worries, we'll try somewhere else.

A rare occasion caught on camera: Emily looking up from a book.

Shipwrecked!
Sort of. The "Boat From Hell" broke down in the middle of the Gulf of Honduras.
They managed to get us to this nearby island where we had to spend the night.
Luckily the island had loads of dogs on it, so we didn't go hungry.
(Somewhere about 2 hours off the coast of Belize)

The boat ride from hell. Note the pile of unconscious bodies behind me.
If you didn't laugh you'd have cried.
(Belize to Honduras)

Downtown San Pedro Sula (H).
The chicken buses drop you off in the nicest places.

A very rare Emily fish.

I really missed work.

Em reading again, this time on the beach at West End Bay, Roatan (H).

Robinson Crusoe country.

Another $20 well spent.

Turtle power.

One of the dive fellas showing off with his swirly fireball things.

Leaving our lovely little cabana on Roatan (H), our home for 5 days.
It was 100 yards from the beach and we picked fresh mangos off the trees for breakfast.

Did you know the first bus from Tela to San Pedro leaves at 6am?
Except on Sundays that is.

These trees were growing out of the ruins -
it looked like the set for the new Indiana Jones movie!
Copan Ruins (H).

I nearly figured out where to find the Mayan gold...

These huge scarlet macaws inhabited the ruins.

Beautifully painted buildings in La Palma (ES).

Em reading outside our room in La Palma.

La Palma, by night.

More colourful paintings in La Palma.

Santa Ana (ES) market.

And there she is: Volcan Izalco (ES).

In need of a haircut

At the top! Phew!

Cloudy forest on the way down.

8. Hola from Central America

super quick hello "hello!" heres a quick pic from our adventure so far! (the only reason weve had time to do this is cos we´ve gotta kill 4 hours in the grottiest bus station on earth, but we found a computer!)
